Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion

Process

In order for you to be able to complete the task successfully, you must go through the following steps:

Step 1 - Learn about the various computer components

You must be able to answer specific questions about a computer system. Here is a list of questions that you will need to answer in a separate Word Document. Open this Questions document and then go to the RESOURCE Section of this WebQuest to find the answers. You may print and fill the document out by hand, but it would be better for you to fill it out electronically. Make sure and take a look at the evaluation page before you begin to see what you will be graded on.

Resources

Use the following web sites to collect the necessary information:

Parts of a Computer

How a Computer Works

In-depth look at Computers and peripherals

Pictures of parts of a computer

More on computers

Intel's The Journey Inside

Step 2 - Select a component to sell

Once you have completed the questions document, you need to select a specific computer part to sell in your commercial. Once you have selected it, review the Resources links again to find out more information about what component is used for.

Step 3 - Storyboard your commercial

The first step to making the commercial is to create a storyboard. Almost every TV commercial you have ever seen began as a storyboard. The storyboard is a sheet of paper that breaks down the elements of a video production into what you see and what you hear. Think of the storyboard as a comic strip.  Each block has a picture with an action and a line of two of dialog.  You can draw pictures, type or handwrite a description of the action in the blocks. For each action, write a script or summarize the action for your characters. If you need more storyboard pages, make additional copies of the storyboard template.  Don’t forget to write your name at the top of each page. This storyboard will be turned in as part of this project. Make sure and take a look at the evaluation page before you begin to see what you will be graded on.

Your commercial must include:

  • Graphic image depicting part to be sold (look at the "Importing your own images" tutorial found at http://goanimate.com/howdoesitwork for info on how to do this.)
  • A short description of part, the cost, why they would buy yours, and any other tidbit about the part you want to add
  • A testimonial from a "satisfied customer" about the part you sold them.
  • The name of your company--ByteBack Technology
  • Company contact information
  • The commercial should be at least 30 seconds long, have at least 3 characters, and have at least 3 unique scenes.
  • Most of all, the commercial should be entertaining and make us want to buy your item

Your storyboard must include:

  • A drawing for at least your three scenes
  • and each drawing should have a description of what is going on

Step 4 - Make the commercial

Next, go to http://www.goanimate.com and register (you'll need an email address). Before you begin, consider watching the tutorials found at http://goanimate.com/howdoesitwork. You'll have to do this from home since we can't easily view YouTube videos from school.

Step 5 - Review the project grading

Print out the grading rubric found on the evaluation page and complete it to see where you stand on your grade. If you follow the rubric, you get to decide how much of a grade you earn. This rubric is part of the evaluation section. You will include your rubric with your packet.

Step 6

Once you are satisfied you are obtaining the best possible grade on the rubric, save your video and email it to Mr. Howard (he'll give you the address). We will also view it as a class later. Print out the answers to your questions, your completed rubric, and attach the storyboard to it. Turn in your packet for your grade.
